Current Science on Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation and Autism

No meaningful therapeutic approaches exist to address the core challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which is FDA cleared for other indications such as medication-resistant depression, offers a possible approach. The 2017 meeting of the TMS in ASD Consensus Group brought together national and international leaders in the science of neuromodulation and autism, together with autism community stakeholders. This interdisciplinary group collaborates in the ongoing scientific research as to whether TMS can play a role in addressing core symptoms of ASD.
