Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an innovative brain stimulation technology. It has already been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration as a treatment for depression and migraines. Substantial ongoing research efforts are underway to examine TMS as a possible treatment for migraine headaches, Alzheimer’s disease, and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, TMS is not a one-size-fits-all technology. For each potential condition, the stimulation pattern, frequency and area of the brain targeted will differ. TMS has the potential to treat Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
